Top Flite Cessna 182 Skylane
Re: Top Flite Cessna 182 Skylane
I got the Flaps covered. Next is the ailerons and that will be the last of the covering.
I also found a easy way to clear the Monokote that covers the holes for the pin hinges. I used a small soldering iron and burned out the covering. It made a nice clean hole.

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182 Skylane
I'm finally finished with the Monokote.
Next I need to clean up the room and get ready to install the Flaps and ailerons and then the servos , control horns and push rods.

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182 Skylane
I got the Flaps and Ailerons Epoxied in place. Next comes the wing tips. At this point, it's like working on an ARF.
Re: Top Flite Cessna 182 Skylane
Well I almost got'er done.
I installed all the wing hardware and test fitted the wing with the wing struts in place, and checked the CG. I must be living right, It was SPOT ON . No weights required. And the GREAT NEW, I weighted the plane ,And the dry weight was only 12.67 LBS ready to fly ,less fuel. The Satio 180 in it gets 16 lbs. of thrust. I still need to put the Coastguard lettering on and program my Taranis radio. Here is some of the latest pictures.

OK the Day is finally here!!
The Cessna is FINISHED!!! As soon as I check the programing on the Taranis Radio it will be ready to fly. Here some of the final pictures.

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182 Skylane
I broke down and ordered a 3 blade spinner and prop. I wanted to get a little more ground clearance and the real Cessna has a three blade prop. I went with a 14 x 9 I hope it will work. If not, I can always use it for display.

Re: Top Flite Cessna 182 Skylane
I did a little more checking on the prop conversion from 2 blade to a 3 blade prop and found this way to see what the load equivalent is.
This is what I came up with.
3 Blade 15 x 9 = 42,950
2 Blade 17 x 8 = 39,304
3 Blade 14 x 9 = 34,920
2 Blade 16 x 8 = 32,768
I was flying my Satio 180 on a 17 x 8 -2 Blade prop. In the Cessna I was going to use a 16 x 8 - 2 Blade prop for more ground clearance, but was only getting about 1 1/4 " clearance. If I went to a 15 x 9 -3 Blade prop, It would be more load and only gain 1/2" clearance. That is why I went with the 14 x 9 - 3 Blade prop. The ground clearance would be around 2 1/4" The load with that Prop on the engine is between a 2 Blade 17 x 8 and a 2 Blade 16 x 8.
Here's a link to the conversion formulation.

I've been flying the Cessna on Realflight sim to get ready to fly it. I will probably wait till spring when it warms up .
